Evening Cruise which heads up river from South Queensferry to pass under the 5 great bridges across the Forth
For our 5 Bridges Cruise, which takes 4 hours, The Maid heads west up the River Forth from South Queensferry, to pass under all 5 of the great bridges across the Forth, the Forth Bridge, the Forth Road Bridge, the Queensferry Crossing, the Kincardine Bridge and the Clackmannanshire Bridge.
The cruise heads upriver past Rosyth Dockyard, the towns of Limekilns and Charlestown, Blackness Castle, Grangemouth and squeezes underneath the Kincardine Bridge. The Kincardine Bridge was built in 1932 as a swing bridge that would open for passing ships, but as the number of ships heading that far up the river dwindled, it was opened for the last time in 1988 and then welded shut. Luckily, with the right tides, the ‘Maid’ can still squeeze through under the bridge. The Clackmannanshire Bridge was opened in 2008 to reduce the congestion on the adjacent Kincardine Bridge. It is slightly lower than the Kincardine Bridge, so it is even more of a squeeze to get the Maid through.
During this cruise, you will be entertained by ‘Pure Malt’, our revered folk ensemble, greatly enjoyed by our passengers.
Our BBQ Ribeye steak suppers and Vegetarian Burgers are also available for this cruise to keep your hunger at bay for this extended trip. These should be booked via the extras menu when you book your tickets.
